Open now: Bloomberg sets no closing date

Short answer: Apply now. Bloomberg publishes no closing date for London, and applying early costs nothing. You need fluent English plus a second language. You apply online with a CV and questions about the role and Bloomberg. Next comes the Plum assessment: about 25 minutes, with no timer. Then a recorded video or phone screen, and an assessment day at a Bloomberg office.

Where are you now?

Independent guide. EP Advisory is not affiliated with Bloomberg.

The Bloomberg Analytics and Sales application process for London 2027 starts with one online form. The job is full-time. 05/10Stage 2 · Plum

The Bloomberg Plum assessment

Bloomberg says certain entry-level roles “also require a Plum assessment”. Plum’s survey has five sections and no timer. You can pause and come back.

About 25 min

No timer, and you can pause

5 sections

Three about how you work, two puzzles

Once a year

The earliest you can retake it

Bloomberg’s text on TargetJobs says the Analytics & Sales assessment takes “approximately 25 minutes” and measures qualities “such as cognitive ability”. The section facts are from Plum’s FAQ.

Step through the Plum survey

Survey: Sections 1, 3 and 5

The start page

Your invite link opens a start page with your employer’s name, and you click Start Survey when you have about 25 quiet minutes.

Our drawing of a Plum-style start page: a grey company name, five short notes with gold icons such as You won't be timed, a language menu, and a yellow Start Survey button under the pointer.

Section 1: statements

For each set of three statements, you tick the one least like you and the one most like you, then click Next.

Our drawing of a Plum-style Section 1 question: progress dots, three short statements in the middle, a least like you column of buttons on the left, a most like you column on the right, and Back and Next below.

Section 3: words

From a list of ten words, you tick three least like you and three most like you, never the same word twice.

Our drawing of a Plum-style Section 3 question: ten single words in a column, three ticked under least like you, three ticked under most like you, and the pointer on one tick.

Section 5: work situations

You read a short work situation and tick the least effective and the most effective of four responses.

Our drawing of a Plum-style Section 5 question: a short work situation about a teammate who missed two deadlines, four possible responses, one ticked as least effective and one ticked as most effective.

Your Plum Profile

When you finish, you see your Plum Profile, which shows your top three of the ten Plum Talents.

Our drawing of a Plum-style profile page: a side menu with Plum Talents selected, three Top Talents cards for Adaptation, Teamwork and Decision Making, and the pointer on See all 10 Talents.

Your moves

  • Make every pick a question needs. Next stays grey until you do.
  • Answer as you are. Bloomberg asks you to represent yourself “accurately and honestly”.
  • In Section 3, click a word again to unselect it before you move it.

Puzzles: Sections 2 and 4

Instructions and example

Sections 2 and 4 open with instructions and an example puzzle with a short video, which you watch but do not answer.

Our drawing of a Plum-style puzzle instructions page: a five-step section bar at Section 2, the instructions on the left, and on the right an example grid of shapes with a play button and five answer pieces.

Pick the missing piece

You click or tap the one piece out of five that comes next in the sequence, then click Next.

Our drawing of a Plum-style puzzle question: a row of arrows that turn a little each step, a question mark at the end, five answer pieces below with one ringed under the pointer, and Back and Next buttons.

Your moves

  • Watch the example. You do not answer it.
  • Look for what changes from one step to the next.
  • Click or tap a piece. The puzzles are not drag and drop.

Our own simplified drawings of Plum’s screens, not screenshots. They show the layout, not the real colours. The review screen at the end is not drawn, as we found no image of it.

The rules: allowed and banned

Allowed

  • Breaks: exit and come back, answers saved
  • A full review at the end, from question 1
  • A computer or tablet with Chrome
  • Adjustments, if you ask Bloomberg

Banned

  • AI tools that answer for you
  • Help from anyone else
  • The browser’s Back button: use the survey’s own

No calculator is needed and no question uses sound. The banned list is our reading of Bloomberg’s honesty rule, which covers all resources, “including, but not limited to, AI”.

On the day: invite, breaks, review and results
  • The invite. Plum’s email subject reads “(Company Name) is moving you to the next stage in their hiring process”. Check spam if it is missing. The employer may set a deadline.
  • Breaks. “You can exit the Discovery Survey at any time and come back later. Your previous answers will be saved.”
  • Review. After the last question, review takes you “back to the very beginning”. You go through to the end to submit.
  • Your result. You see your Plum Profile, with your top three Talents. Bloomberg sees a Match Score from 30 to 99. You do not.
  • Retake. Only “one year after your last assessment”. Other employers that use Plum can reuse your profile.

From Plum, the test maker

Skip Plum “practice tests”, answer keys and AI helpers. Plum publishes no practice test, so these guess. Bloomberg asks you to answer honestly.

06/10Stage 3 · Interviews

Bloomberg interviews: video and in person

Bloomberg screens with a video or phone interview, run by its own recruiters. Its text on TargetJobs describes a recorded video of 10 to 15 minutes.

ScreenRecorded video or call

The role · Your experience · Bloomberg

Assessment dayAt a Bloomberg office

Managers · Team leaders · Tasks

Second language. If the role has a language requirement, “you may be required to answer questions in that language and in English” (Bloomberg’s text on TargetJobs).

What is and is not published about the video
  • Published. Find “a quiet place with access to a computer and WiFi for 10-15 minutes”. You record answers to questions “about the role, your experience, and Bloomberg”.
  • Why. It checks skills “such as language proficiency, verbal presentation and/or technical abilities” (How we hire).
  • Not published. The platform, the number of questions, prep and answer times, and retakes. Your invite will say.

How to answer: one example per question

Bloomberg’s recruiter says to “frame your answers around a single piece of evidence or a single example” and to “avoid scripted answers”. Build each answer in four parts:

Your point

Answer the question in one line.

One example

One time, one place, one task.

Your part

What you did, with a number.

The link

Why it matters for clients.

Follow-ups to rehearse

What exactly did you do?How would you explain that to a client? What is moving markets today? Why Bloomberg?

The four parts and the follow-ups are ours.

Bloomberg’s own advice: know your motivation, your “long-term career goals” and “Bloomberg’s business”. Have “a few questions prepared for your interviewer” too. See our guides on how to pass a job interview and the toughest interview questions.

Practise: one question at a time

Motivation questions

Bloomberg publishes no question list. These prompts are ours, built from the topics it names: the role, your experience, Bloomberg and your career goals.

Motivation

Why Bloomberg?

What they’re testing: that you understand Bloomberg’s business.

Show a strong answer
  • Name the Terminal, the clients who use it and one thing you have read or used. Link it to what you want to learn.

The role

Why Analytics and Sales?

What they’re testing: that you want a client-facing job.

Show a strong answer
  • Say you want to solve client problems first, then build relationships in Sales. That is the path the ad describes.

Career

Where do you want your career to go?

What they’re testing: long-term fit.

Show a strong answer
  • Bloomberg’s recruiter says to “be prepared to talk about your future career”. Give a direction, such as Sales, and the skills you will build.

Your turn

What questions do you have for us?

What they’re testing: real curiosity.

Show a strong answer
  • Ask two: one about training, one about how teams work with clients. Skip anything the ad already answers.

Experience questions

Our prompts, built from the traits in the ad. Answer each with one example.

Clients

Tell me about a time you helped a customer with a problem.

What they’re testing: client focus.

Show a strong answer
  • One customer, the problem, what you did, and how you knew it worked.

Learning

Tell me about a time you learned something new quickly.

What they’re testing: the “ability to learn quickly and adapt”.

Show a strong answer
  • A tool, subject or job you picked up fast. Say how long it took and what you did with it.

Multitasking

Tell me about a time you had several tasks at once.

What they’re testing: calm under pressure.

Show a strong answer
  • The tasks, how you ranked them, and the result. Then what you would do differently.

Languages

Tell me about a time you used your second language at work or study.

What they’re testing: that clients can rely on it.

Show a strong answer
  • A real exchange: who, why and the outcome. Be ready to give this answer in that language.

Markets and clients questions

Our prompts. Bloomberg’s recruiter says to know “what’s affecting financial markets” before you record.

Markets

What is moving financial markets this week?

What they’re testing: a daily habit.

Show a strong answer
  • One move, with one number. Why it moved, and which Bloomberg clients would care.

Clients

A client says a number on their screen looks wrong. What do you do?

What they’re testing: careful, calm client help.

Show a strong answer
  • Listen, repeat the problem back, then check the source. Explain what you found, and say when you will follow up.

Explain

Explain inflation to someone new to finance.

What they’re testing: plain explanations.

Show a strong answer
  • One sentence, one everyday example, then why it matters to an investor.

Technology

Which technology could change how clients work?

What they’re testing: the ad’s “interest in innovative technologies”.

Show a strong answer
  • Pick one, such as AI tools or Python. Say which task it makes faster, and one risk.

Assessment day and offers

The last step is an assessment day at a Bloomberg office, usually where the role is. Bloomberg’s text on TargetJobs says the day “can vary in format and length”.

Interviews

With managers, team leaders or other staff.

Skills tasks and group work

A “skill-based assessment and group activities”.

Job shadowing or simulations

See the client work up close.

A tour and networking

A chance to ask your questions.

This list is from Bloomberg’s profile on TargetJobs: what “you might experience”. Not every day has every part.

Hearing back, offer conditions and training
  • Hearing back. The timing is not published. Bloomberg says review “may take some time”.
  • Conditions. An offer depends on “an interview process in line with local regulations” and, where needed, the right to work.
  • Training. You start with training, then join an Analytics team. Bloomberg’s 2023 video gave nine weeks. The 2027 length is not published.

Visa sponsorship

Our reading: Bloomberg sponsors this role if you qualify as a New Entrant. Check the five ways below before you apply.

The ad says: “Sponsorship is available for this role. To be eligible you must be eligible for the UK Skilled Worker under the New Entrant Requirements” (Japanese speakers ad, checked 14 October 2026).

Who counts as a New Entrant, and the Graduate visa
  • New Entrant. The ad lists five ways, and you need one. You are under 26 on the date you apply. Or you are working towards a recognised qualification in a UK-regulated profession, or full registration or chartered status. Or your most recent visa was a Student visa (course finished or finishing within 3 months) or a Graduate visa, within the last 2 years.
  • Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK). It needs no sponsor.
  • Customer Support. Bloomberg’s London Customer Support language roles do not sponsor visas.

Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
