What Enterprise looks for

Enterprise names six key competencies. Both interviews test the same six.

Customer Service Aptitude

“Hands down, customer service is the most important thing at Enterprise Mobility.” Show it by going beyond what a customer expected.

Leadership

“being confident enough to listen to others and work together”. Show it by leading a group to a result.

Sales Aptitude

“Great things happen when you listen.” Show it by matching an offer to what someone needed.

Communication

“get your message across confidently, openly, and persuasively”. Show it by winning someone round.

Work Ethic

“We want proactive people looking to deliver great results.” Show it with a result you pushed for.

Flexibility

“ready to meet our customers’ needs while juggling several other tasks”. Show it by juggling tasks well.

From Enterprise’s trainee page, 18 October 2026. The “Show it by” lines are ours. Every ad adds: “Regardless of your socio-economic background, university attended, subject studied, and degree attained, we will always look at how you perform against our competencies and will judge you on that alone.”

What the job involves, day to day
  • Five areas. The ads list Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, Financial Control and Profitability, Operations and Logistics, and Leadership and Development.
  • Your own team. You “take the lead in mentoring, training, and developing your own team”.
  • A real week. In Enterprise’s week-in-the-life video (July 2026), a trainee shows branch meetings, customer pickups and visits to dealerships and body shops. “Every now and then we get stuck in with cleaning cars too”.

Apply to one posting only

Pick one area, near where you live or plan to work. More applications slow you down.

“Please limit your application to only one job posting based on where you live and/or plan to work. Applying to multiple locations will delay your application being processed.” (every trainee ad). Enterprise publishes no yearly limit and no rule on when you can reapply. Your profile stays “active in our database for one year”.

Who can apply: degree, licence and driving record
  • Degree. “A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, professional experience can be substituted if applicable.”
  • Licence. “You must have a full manual UK or EU driving licence, but we do make accommodations for applicants who don’t drive due to a disability.”
  • Driving record. “No drug or alcohol related offence on driving record within the last five years is permitted.”
  • Adjustments. “Please let us know about any accommodations you may need to participate in our recruitment process.” Tell your recruiter.
  • Right to work. Enterprise cannot sponsor a visa for this role. See Visa sponsorship.

Your CV and form: do and don’t

Do

“Ran our society’s freshers’ stall and signed up 60 new members in two days”

A customer and sales result with a number. Enterprise asks for a result that “can be quantified”.

Don’t

“Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic”

It names two of Enterprise’s competencies but proves neither.

Enterprise’s form asks you to copy parts of your CV into it, so each CV line becomes an answer. Our CV achievement examples show how to give each role a result. Our guide to an impressive CV covers the layout. Getting ready to apply for jobs in the UK? Check your CV for free: see it the way a recruiter does, then fix each problem.

No ad near you, or still a student? Your options
  • No ad in your area. Enterprise’s FAQ says to contact “a member of Enterprise Mobility’s local recruiting team”.
  • Still a student? On 18 October 2026, Enterprise listed 152 placement and internship ads: 127 one-year, 23 summer and 2 six-month. They are for “all undergraduate university students regardless of university attended and subjects being studied”. Check each ad for licence rules.
  • Summer dates. Summer interns start on one of three dates, from 17 May to 7 June 2027. They stay until Friday 3 September 2027 (Gatwick summer ad). The summer ads were posted on 16 October 2026.
  • Six-month dates. Glasgow and Edinburgh only. Placements begin between January 2027 and March 2027, depending on your university and Enterprise’s needs. They end on 3 September 2027 (Glasgow ad).
  • Why it matters. Enterprise says “nearly 100% of our team members started on the internship or graduate scheme. Including our current CEO.” (internships page).
  • Meet a recruiter first. Drop-in sessions run every Wednesday 12:00 to 12:45 and Thursday 19:00 to 19:45, through a sign-up form on Zoom. On 18 October 2026, Enterprise’s events page listed 48 campus events, from 19 October 2026 to 10 March 2027.

05/10Stage 2 · First check

The phone screen and form: no online test

Enterprise does not use an online test for this role. The first check is a short phone call with a recruiter, then a 15-minute form.

About 10 min

The phone screen, usually

15 min

The application form

No test

No game or recorded video

The phone screen

A recruiter calls to “learn more about your background, skills, and career ambitions and to find out if you have what we’re looking for”.

The form

“if you haven’t done so already”, you fill in a standard form. Enterprise says it takes “just 15 minutes”.

Have your CV ready

“have an electronic copy of your CV handy, so you can copy and paste the relevant parts into the application form”.

A CV alone is not enough

“You must complete the employment application in full then submit it to be considered for a position.”

From Enterprise’s process blog (March 2025), its trainee page and its FAQ, checked 18 October 2026. Next, “You will be contacted by a member of the Recruitment team who will advise on the next step.” Enterprise names no test, game, video recording or test provider for this role.

Our tips for the call
  • Answer unknown numbers. Enterprise does not publish when the recruiter calls, so keep your phone on after you register.
  • Two minutes on you. Prepare a short story of your background and why you want to run a branch.
  • Name your ambition. The call asks about “career ambitions”. Say where you want to be, and tie it to the two-year route to branch manager.
  • Find a quiet place. If the call comes at a bad time, ask to call back soon.
Enterprise's first check, side by side. The phone screen lasts about 10 minutes, is with a recruiter and covers your background, skills and career ambitions. There is no online test. The application form takes about 15 minutes, is the same for every candidate, and you copy parts of your CV into it. A CV alone is not enough. Afterwards a member of the recruitment team tells you the next step.
Stage 2, from Enterprise’s careers blog and FAQ. Enterprise may ask for the form before the call. (click to enlarge)

06/10Stage 3 · Virtual interview

The virtual interview

Stage 3 is a virtual competency interview with a recruiter. Enterprise calls it “a more in-depth expansion of the phone screen”.

“For the Management Training Programme, you will be asked interview questions based on 6 competencies.” It is “competency-based, lasting 30-40 minutes, and will be conducted by one of our friendly recruiters” (virtual interview blog, April 2025).

How this interview works

Ask and dress well

Enterprise says “dress to impress” and suggests “Asking thoughtful questions”.

07/10Stage 4 · Branch visit

The branch visit and your offer

The final stage is a visit to one of Enterprise’s branches, in person. Enterprise’s trainee page says you visit “for an interview with the Branch and Area Manager” (checked 18 October 2026).

About 3 hours

Enterprise’s process blog says the visit usually lasts around 3 hours: 2 hours in the branch, then a competency interview of 30 to 60 minutes.

Two hours in the branch

You “engage with the team”, share your “thoughts, ideas, and questions” and get “hands-on with our day-to-day operations”.

Take the first step

“Take initiative by introducing yourself to the team”. The branch hours are part of your visit, so join in.

Your interview

With the Branch and Area Manager, on the same six competencies. Use STAR again, with fresh examples if you can.

After the visit

Enterprise does not publish when offers or results come.

From Enterprise’s branch visit blog (March 2025) and its process blog. Enterprise has “over 470+ locations across the UK & Ireland”.

Enterprise's two interview stages side by side. The virtual interview lasts 30 to 40 minutes, is with a recruiter, covers six competencies and suits STAR answers. The branch visit lasts about 3 hours, with about 2 hours in the branch and then a 30 to 60 minute interview with the Branch and Area Manager. Enterprise says examples from part-time jobs, hobbies, sports and societies all count.
Stages 3 and 4. The interviewers at the branch are as named on Enterprise’s trainee page, 18 Oct 2026. (click to enlarge)
Offer conditions: checks before you start
  • Screening. “All offers of employment / engagement are made subject to satisfactory PES checks.” The first is “(a) Proof of Right to Work in UK (PORTW)” (screening policy, 2018).
  • Records. “Criminal Record and Financial checks will be initiated no earlier than 30 days before start date.” Enterprise says “Having a criminal record or a CCJ, for example, will not necessarily bar you from working with the Company.”
  • DBS check. Enterprise’s ex-offenders policy asks for one when you get a conditional offer.
  • Driving record. No drug or alcohol related offence on your driving record in the last five years.

Visa sponsorship

Our reading: Enterprise will not sponsor this role. So you need your own right to work in the UK for as long as the job lasts. If you hold a time-limited visa, ask Enterprise before you apply.

Every trainee ad says: “In accordance with current government guidelines, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role as the role does not appear on the Home Office list of RQF Level 6 roles approved for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker system.” (Bristol ad, 18 October 2026).

The Graduate visa and right to work
  • Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK).
  • Right to work. Enterprise’s screening policy lists “Proof of Right to Work in UK” as the first check before you start.

Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas, staying in the UK after studying and jobs in the UK for foreigners. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
