02/11Before you apply
Get ready now
Six things to prepare before you apply. Each comes from L’Oréal’s own pages or last cycle’s ads.
The job alert
Free, on the SeedZ page. It asks for your email. Pick United Kingdom and “Management Trainee Programme”.
One stream
L’Oréal considers you for one role, so “apply only to your top-choice role”. HR asked for prior HR experience.
A one-page CV
“Keep it to one page.” “Show results, not just tasks.” No cover letter unless the ad asks.
A referral, if you can
Ask someone at L’Oréal to refer you “before you submit an application externally”.
Your STARE stories
Four to six, including a setback. L’Oréal asks you to share “challenges or setbacks”.
Numbers and Excel
Supply Chain’s tests “assess numerical ability”. Finance and Commercial asked for Excel and PowerPoint.
Check you fit too. The 2026-intake ads asked for final-year students or graduates “within the last two years”. They named no degree class or subject.

What L’Oréal looks for
L’Oréal says it looks at how you “think, adapt and create impact”. These six traits come from its interview page and last cycle’s ads.
Learning agility and resilience
Show it by: a setback, “how you adapted and what you learned”.
An entrepreneurial mindset
Show it by: a time you “took initiative” or “owned a project end-to-end”.
Results, with numbers
Show it by: “numbers, scope and timelines” on every CV line.
Analytical skills
Show it by: a project where data changed a decision. Every stream’s ad asked for it.
Leadership
Show it by: “Leadership skills developed during university or work experience”, from the Supply Chain ad.
A view on beauty
Show it by: a take on L’Oréal for the Future or “how technology is shaping consumer behaviour”.
From L’Oréal’s Get ready to interview page and the 2026-intake ads. The HR ad named four profiles: “Operational Masters”, “People Champions”, “Culture and Change Agents” and “Strategic Business Drivers”. The Marketing ad asked for “ambition, resilience, and creativity”.

- Three in 30 days. “You can apply for up to three roles every 30 days, so make each application count” (Get ready to apply).
- One role considered. “If you apply for multiple roles, we’ll consider you for the one most aligned with your profile.” Last cycle’s ads added: “You cannot withdraw your application once you applied”.
- Cover letter. “Unless the role specifically asks for a cover letter, we don’t expect one, as we focus on your CV.”
- English. “submit your profile in English unless the job description specifically asks for something else.”
- Timeline. “around one month for junior roles from CV to final interview, though timelines may vary”.
- Scams. “Emails from L’Oréal always come from an @loreal.com or loreal-groupe.com address.”

Your CV: do and don’t
Do
“Grew society event sales from 80 to 140 tickets in one term”
L’Oréal says: “Use numbers, scope and timelines to prove your outcomes.”
Don’t
“Responsible for the society’s social media”
“Don’t just give us a generic list of responsibilities.”
L’Oréal also suggests “a short, impactful summary at the top of your CV” instead of a generic cover letter. Our CV achievement examples and our guide to writing a strong CV show how. - SeedZ in another country. “you can apply for L’Oréal SeedZ in any country where we operate” (SeedZ page).
- Brandstorm. A competition “for people under 30”. “If you win the final international competition, we will offer you a place on our SeedZ Management Trainee Programme” (Brandstorm).
- Still a student? On 18 October 2026, L’Oréal UK advertised 2027 industrial placements for second-year students. Graduates are told: “If you’ve already graduated, please check out our graduate roles instead!”
- Placement first. After a placement, “you can continue your journey through” SeedZ (internships page).
- Apply again. L’Oréal says “Not being selected for one role doesn’t close the door at L’Oréal.”
06/11Stage 2 · Tests or review
Online assessments, cognitive tests or a review
What follows the form depends on your stream. In the 2026-intake ads, three streams had tests and two had a recruiter review.
Assessments
Marketing and HR: online
Cognitive
Supply Chain: numerical and more
Review
Finance and Commercial: a recruiter
Supply Chain: “you’ll be invited to complete cognitive tests to assess numerical ability and other skills.” Marketing and HR: “Submit your answers promptly to move forward in the process.” Finance and Commercial: “Our recruiters will review your application.”
What else L’Oréal says about its tests
- No provider named. No L’Oréal page or ad we read names a test company. Your invite will show the format.
- 2025 intake. Those ads put online assessments in every stream we read. “the quicker you submit your answers the quicker we can continue”.
- Scoring. Today’s placement ads say: “While our online assessments are scored automatically, every application is carefully reviewed by our team” (Marketing placement ad). That is a placement ad, not the scheme ad.
- Finance and Commercial. With no test, your CV and eligibility answers carry the review. Make every line show a result.

07/11Prepare · Interviews
Interviews and L’Oréal’s STARE method
The 2026-intake UK ads named no separate interview stage. L’Oréal’s global pages describe its usual interviews, so prepare with them.
Interviews “typically last 45 to 60 minutes”. The usual order is “a first interview with a recruiter”, then “a more in-depth conversation with a hiring manager” (Get ready to interview). The recruiter interview is “focused on cultural fit”.

How to answer: L’Oréal’s STARE method

The assessment centre and your offer
In the 2026-intake ads, every stream ended with an in-person assessment centre. L’Oréal UK does not publish what it contains.
In person, by function
“These will run throughout the recruitment period and are specific to each function.”
Running as you apply
The 2025-intake ads said centres would run “from when applications open until the roles are filled”.
Hearing back
“Typically, you will hear from us within a couple of weeks.” For “high-volume programmes (like the SeedZ Management Trainee Programme), it might take longer.”
Feedback
“We aim to provide constructive feedback whenever possible, especially at later stages of the process.”
The offer
A permanent role from day one. Last cycle’s offers were for a July 2026 or January 2027 start.
From the 2026-intake ads and L’Oréal’s Get ready to interview page. The centre’s length, tasks and assessors are not published.
09/11
Visa sponsorship
Our reading: the last UK ads did not offer visa sponsorship. They said nothing on visas or right to work. Check the new ad, and ask L’Oréal before you rely on sponsorship.
L’Oréal’s answer: sponsorship “depends entirely on the country, the local regulations and the seniority of the role”. If it is available, “it is usually stated in the job description”. If you need a visa, “please make this clear in your application profile” (Get ready to apply).
The Graduate visa
- Length. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK). Last cycle’s programmes ran 12 or 18 months.
Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
