Your route to an offer

The window for the summer 2027 internship and July 2028 full-time start closed on 11 October 2026. BofA has not yet given dates for the next window, as of 19 October 2026.

BofA’s application process page, EMEA tab, checked 19 October 2026, says: “Analyst Internship and Full-time recruiting takes place on a rolling basis once applications open. Assessments often begin before the deadline, so it’s best to submit your application early.” The tab still shows only the 2026 dates.

The yearly pattern, from BofA’s own application page

Autumn 2024

Opened 19 Aug 2024. Closed 25 Oct 2024.

Autumn 2025

Opened 1 Sep 2025. Closed 5 Oct 2025.

Autumn 2026

Opened 1 Sep 2026. Closed 11 Oct 2026.

Next window

No dates given on 19 October 2026

The window covers BofA’s EMEA summer, off-cycle and full-time programmes. Dates from BofA’s application page, saved by the Wayback Machine on 4 October 2024 and 12 September 2025, and the live page for 2026. Our reading: it has opened in late August or early September three years running. So be ready by August. This is a pattern, not a promise.

GCIB has four parts: Global Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Global Corporate Banking and the Sustainable Banking Solutions Group. The 2027 Summer ad for London investment banking listed teams such as Consumer and Retail, Healthcare, M&A, Financial Sponsors, FIG and TMT. Some country coverage teams sit partly in other European offices.

Where these facts come from
  • Teams. The four parts are on BofA’s GCIB page. The London team list comes from the 2027 Summer ad. The next cycle’s ad may differ.
  • Summer. The EMEA tab describes “Our ten-week summer internship programme” for students in the “penultimate year of your undergraduate degree”.
  • Entry. The EMEA FAQ asks for a “minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent for analyst roles”.
  • Training. “New Analysts and Associates in GCIB participate in a unique analyst development program” (GCIB page, global).
  • Pay. No figure is published. The EMEA summer card says “A competitive salary.” For context, see salaries in the UK.
  • Deferral. “No, Bank of America does not offer you the chance to defer.” (EMEA FAQ).
Bank of America's London route in five stages. Stage 1: apply online with your CV and competency questions. Stage 2: a video interview, part of the online application, up to 15 minutes. Stage 3: an assessment centre if you are selected, with calls and video interviews with HR, business managers and possible peers. Stage 4: a ten-week summer internship in London. Stage 5: a full-time offer may follow a strong summer, with no deferrals. Recruiting is rolling and assessments often begin before the deadline, so apply early.

What Bank of America looks for

BofA says what it wants in plain words. Have one example ready for each line.

“quantitative skills”

Show it by: a number you worked out that changed a decision.

“strategic and creative thinking”

Show it by: a problem you solved a new way.

“written and oral communications skills”

Show it by: a time you explained something complex to a non-expert.

“a genuine interest in the financial markets”

Show it by: a market story you follow, and why it matters.

“integrity, teamwork and leadership ability”

Show it by: a team you led, and a hard call you made honestly.

“your desire for a career in banking”

Show it by: the steps you have already taken towards it.

From BofA’s EMEA tab and FAQ, plus the 2027 Summer ad for the markets line. BofA says there is “no set candidate profile we are seeking. Above all, we’re looking for genuine interest in our business.” That ad also listed “A second European language” as desired, not essential.

04/10Stage 1 · Apply

How to apply

One application, in two parts, before the deadline. “Online applications for most programs are comprised of two stages: your application with CV upload and competency questions, plus a video interview.”

BofA adds: “Both must be completed by the application deadline for you to be considered.” You apply on BofA’s campus job board.

Who can apply, and the rules on applying
  • Summer eligibility. The 2027 Summer ad asked for degree completion “between June 2027 and July 2028”, and to be “On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)”. The 2026 Summer ad also asked for 112 UCAS points. The 2027 ad did not.
  • Full-time eligibility. “To be eligible, you must be in your final year of university.” (EMEA tab).
  • One application. “EMEA applicants are limited to 1 application per recruitment season. Once your application has been submitted, you will be unable to apply to any additional EMEA programs.” (2027 Summer ad).
  • Emails. BofA warns its emails “may sometimes go straight to spam folders”. Check yours after you apply.
  • Scams. “Bank of America will never ask for payment or request personal banking information at any stage of the recruitment /career process.” (BofA scams page).
  • Form questions. BofA does not publish its competency questions, word limits or a cover letter rule.

Your CV: do and don’t

Do

“Built a three-statement model for a society stock pitch; our buy call on a UK retailer won the final”

The task, the skill and the result. It shows “quantitative skills” and “a genuine interest in the financial markets”.

Don’t

“Member of the finance society”

A title with no action or result. It tells BofA nothing about your desire for banking.

Your CV is the first thing BofA’s form asks for. Our CV achievement examples show how to turn a task into a result. Getting ready to apply for jobs in the UK? Check your CV for free: see it the way a recruiter does, then fix each problem.

Missed it? Your options
  • Off-cycle roles. BofA also runs off-cycle analyst roles in London. Its EMEA tab says: “Off-cycle internship and Industrial placement recruiting takes place at various times depending on business need.”
  • Spring Insight. It is for first years, or second years of a four-year course. The last one closed on 23 November 2025. No 2027 Spring ad was live on 19 October 2026.
  • Final year and declined? “If you are declined for the summer program, you can reapply for the Full-time program the following year.” (EMEA FAQ).
  • Next season. Follow the job board feed, so you see the next ads as they go up.

05/10Stage 2 · Video interview

The video interview

BofA names no online test. The online stage is your application plus a video interview.

15 min

Most for the first round, says BofA

Practice

Questions you can try first

30 min

Idle time before you are logged out

BofA’s job board help says: “When you start the interview, you will have the option to take practice questions to become familiar with the system prior to recording your real interview questions.” It adds: “Your first round video interview will take up to 15 minutes to complete.” BofA’s APAC tab tells applicants to “get accustomed to the HireVue platform”. The EMEA tab and the London ad say only “video interview”.

Step through the HireVue

HireVue video interview: up to 15 minutes

Welcome and device check

Read how many questions there are, how long it takes and the due date, then let the page check your camera and microphone. Employers set their own version, so yours may differ.

Our drawing of the HireVue start screens: a "What you can expect" card with the number of video questions, notes on how you will be reviewed, the time it takes, the due date and a Continue button, and a camera and microphone check with "Good!" ticks for video and audio.

Practise first

Answer a practice question in Practice Mode, then watch it back to check you can be seen and heard before you start the real interview.

Our drawing of a HireVue practice question with a blue Practice Mode banner saying responses are not saved, the question on the left and your video on the right, and a review card where you watch your answer and choose another practice question or Start Now.

Read the question while prep time runs

Read the question while the prep timer runs down, and click Start Recording when you are ready or wait for the timer to end.

Our drawing of a HireVue question screen during prep time: Question 2 of 6 with the retries and minutes allowed, the question text on the left, an orange prep time bar joined to a Start Recording button, and a darkened self view marked NOT Recording with a head-and-shoulders guide.

Record your answer

After a 3-second countdown your answer records while the response timer runs, and you click Done Answering to finish early.

Our drawing of a HireVue question screen while recording: a blue response time bar joined to a Done Answering button, your live video below it, and a note showing the 3-second countdown that comes before recording starts.

The end

When you finish you see Interview Received, and if you were cut off you can resume from your last unanswered question.

Our drawing of two HireVue status pages: Interview Received, saying the employer received your completed interview, and Interview in Progress with a Resume Interview button.

Your moves

  • Take the practice questions to check light, sound and framing.
  • Note three points for each story, not a script.
  • Use Chrome on a device with a working webcam and microphone.

Our own simplified drawings of each screen, not screenshots. Timers on them are examples, not Bank of America’s settings. Its UK job board says the first round takes up to 15 minutes.

BofA’s own video tips, from its US tab
  • Timing. “You’ll have 30 seconds to prepare a response and up to three minutes to respond.” Aim for “at least 1:45 per response”.
  • Notes. “Notes are okay: While we don’t want a scripted response, it’s okay to write down points you would like to touch on.”
  • Questions. “The questions are primarily behavioral and open ended, although we may ask you about projects or experiences.”
  • Length. The US tab says “(~20-30 minutes)”. The UK job board says up to 15 minutes, so plan for the UK figure.
  • Device. “a supported device with a functional webcam and microphone, and an internet connection”. Chrome is preferred. Firefox, Edge and Safari 15 or higher also work.

The rules: what you can do

Allowed

  • Practice questions first
  • Notes with your points, says the US tab
  • Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari 15+

Avoid

  • Reading a script aloud
  • Leaving it idle for 30 minutes
  • Finishing after the deadline

06/10Stage 3 · Assessment centre

The assessment centre

Stage 3 is a set of interviews, if you are selected. “If you’re selected to interview, you will be contacted by a Talent Acquisition professional.”

BofA’s EMEA tab says: “While candidate experiences vary, you can expect the interview process to include a mix of phone calls and video interviews with HR team members, business managers and possible peers. You may also be asked to complete exercises and assessments to measure key aptitudes and values.” BofA does not publish the number of rounds, their length or any technical content.

Bank of America's two interview stages side by side. Stage 2, the video interview, comes with your online application. You record it on HireVue, it takes up to 15 minutes, and you can try practice questions first. Stage 3, the assessment centre, comes only if you are selected. It is a mix of phone calls and video interviews with HR, business managers and possible peers, and may include exercises and assessments. Bank of America says you must show your desire for a career in banking.
Stages 2 and 3. Bank of America publishes no question list for either. (click to enlarge)

The summer internship and offer

“Our ten-week summer internship programme” is the last test. A full-time offer may follow it.

The summer

The 2027 Summer ad said: “Must be available to join the programme from June 2027 to August 2027”.

The offer

That ad said: “Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2028; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date.”

No deferrals

BofA is “unable to offer deferrals”. Plan your start date before you accept.

After an offer

New analysts join “a unique analyst development program”, says BofA’s GCIB page.

The EMEA summer card promises “The chance to progress on to a graduate programme”. BofA does not publish hear-back times or offer conditions. To compare banks, see our J.P. Morgan investment banking analyst guide.

08/10

Visa sponsorship

BofA’s London ads say nothing on visa sponsorship. Its EMEA FAQ has one line on hiring from outside the EEA.

BofA’s EMEA FAQ, read on 19 October 2026, says: “We welcome applications from all candidates. However, the UK government has taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers from outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) coming to the UK for employment. Please be aware that whilst we are able to consider applications from workers from outside of the EEA, we can only employ individuals where we can provide evidence that there are no other candidates from within the EEA who are suitable for the role.”

Our reading: confirm sponsorship for your role with BofA before you apply. For reference, a Graduate visa lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK).

Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
