1. Application: closes 12:00 BST on 19 Oct 2026

One practice ad, a CV and five short answers. No cover letter. Submit by Sunday 18 October to be safe.

2. Written answers: five, up to 150 words each

This is the real screen. A person in Baringa’s Talent Acquisition team reads every application. Give it 2 to 3 evenings.

The five written answers

3. Assessment centre: January 2027 to February 2027, London

Likely an interview, a case study and a group exercise. That shape comes from Baringa’s 2025 internship pack. Prep 3 to 4 weeks.

4. Offer: February 2027 to March 2027

Where these facts come from
  • Dates. Baringa’s 2027 graduate pack, page 32. The ads say the window closes at “12pm GMT Midday” on Monday 19 October 2026.
  • The answers. Every ad’s form has five required questions, each “max 150 words”. See the Energy & Resources ad.
  • Who can apply. “Recent graduates or final year students”, for a “Permanent, full-time job as a graduate Analyst” (Early Careers page).
  • Salary. “A competitive salary”, with no figure.
  • Visa. Every ad: “we’re unable to sponsor individuals for this opportunity.”

New this cycle

Assessment centres move to the new year. Last cycle’s ad said “October / November” (archived copy). This year’s pack gives January 2027 to February 2027.

No extension is mentioned. Last cycle’s ad said the window “may extend”. This year’s ads say nothing about it, so do not count on one.

What Baringa looks for

Baringa wants a strong academic record, plus five traits. It also says: “We do not filter applications by university background”.

A strong academic record

Show it by: your degree and grades near the top of your CV.

Keen to grow on one career pathway

Show it by: naming the unit you want, and why.

A team player

Show it by: a group result where you name your own part.

A strong communicator and presenter

Show it by: clear written answers, then a confident presentation on the day.

An analytical and critical thinker

Show it by: a problem you broke down, with the number that changed.

Clear on why Baringa

Show it by: one Baringa project or unit you can name and explain.

Baringa’s values

Be KindBe CuriousBe Great at Work

From Baringa’s 2027 graduate pack. Its Early Careers page asks for people who are “kind, curious and fuelled by the ambition to be great”.

What Baringa says, in its own words
  • Traits. “On top of a strong academic record, you’ll be” a team player, “An exceptional communicator with confident presentation skills”, “An analytical and critical thinker” and “Clear about why you want to be a consultant at Baringa” (Early Careers page).
  • Degrees. Each ad lists desired degrees by unit. Enterprise Value Creation is “Open to all degree types”. Energy Products asks for “programming (e.g. Python, SQL)”.

Five answers

Submit before the close, ideally by 18 Oct

Which time? The ads say “12pm GMT Midday”, but the UK is on BST until 25 October. Treat 12:00 BST as the cut-off.

The five practices and their units
  • Energy & Resources. Commodities & Energy Trading; Energy Products; Markets & Transactions; Economics, Policy, Regulation, and Commercial; Transition, Assets and Infrastructure.
  • Capabilities. Customer; Enterprise Value Creation; Organisation, People & Change; Supply Chain & Procurement; Data, AI, Solutions & Engineering.
  • Products & Services. Technology, Media & Telecoms; Consumer Products & Retail; Industrial Manufacturing.
  • Financial Services. The form has no unit list.
  • Public Sector Consulting. No unit list. You must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance. Start dates are May 2027 or September 2027.
  • Research first. Baringa’s pack asks you to research the units on its capabilities and industries pages. It says: “We’ll always do our best to match your preferences.”
Screening questions, who reads it and contacts
  • Screening. The form asks about unspent convictions, travel to client sites, your right-to-work status, past work at Baringa and any adjustments you need.
  • Proof of right to work. “All applicants will be asked for proof if invited to an assessment centre.”
  • Who reads it. “All applications received will be reviewed by a member of our Talent Acquisition team. We never rely solely on automated screening or AI tools to make hiring decisions.”
  • Questions. Use Baringa’s Early Careers enquiry form, or email [email protected]. The email is in Baringa’s 2027 graduate pack.

Your CV: do and don’t

Do

“Built a budget tracker that cut society costs by 20%”

Put your degree and grades first. Show teamwork, analysis and communication, each with a number.

Don’t

“Responsible for society finances”

A duty with no result tells Baringa little.

Our CV achievement examples show how to write those lines. Our guide to an impressive CV covers the layout. Getting ready to apply for jobs in the UK? Check your CV for free: see it the way a recruiter does, then fix each problem.

Missed the deadline? Your options
  • The next window. Baringa opens its graduate window once a year. The last two ran from 22 Nov 2024 to 10 Jan 2025, and from September to 12 Oct 2025. This year’s opened on 2 Oct and closes on 19 Oct 2026. The next one is likely to open in September 2027. Watch the Early Careers page from then.
  • In your penultimate year? The UK Summer Internship is 8 weeks and paid. The 2027 window’s deadline was set for 28 September 2026 (TARGETjobs listing). Baringa says it “will reopen next Autumn”. About 3 in 4 interns become Graduate Analysts.
  • Work rights in another country? Baringa runs 6 to 10 week internships in the United States, Australia, Singapore and Europe. They are for final-year students with the right to work there.
  • Analyst roles open now. Baringa has Analyst roles in Sofia and Singapore. Neither is a graduate programme, and neither ad says whether it sponsors visas.
  • A few years of work already? Baringa points you to its Experienced Hire roles instead.

05/10Stage 2 · Written answers

The five written answers

No online test is named, so these five answers are the screen. Each one is required, with a limit of 150 words.

What Baringa says

Five required questions on every ad. The 2027 pack goes from the application straight to the assessment centre.

Not published

How answers are scored. Interns get a phone interview, but the graduate pack shows none.

Suggested split of a 150-word Baringa answer: about 20 words to answer the question, 80 for your example, 30 for the result and 20 for the link to Baringa.
Our suggested split. Baringa sets only the limit. (click to enlarge)

The five questions, one at a time

Question 1: why this area

“Explain to us why you have chosen this specific area to work in and how you can add value to the team?”

What they’re testing: that you know what the unit does, and what you bring to it.

Your moves

  • Name the unit and one piece of its work from Baringa’s pages.
  • Link one skill, course or job of yours to that work.
  • Close with what you would add in your first year.

Question 2: why consulting

“Please provide 3 reasons as to why a career in Management Consulting aligns to your personal careers goals and interests?”

What they’re testing: that you know what consultants do, and why it suits you.

Your moves

  • Give exactly three reasons, and number them.
  • Back each reason with something you have done.
  • Keep these about consulting. Save Baringa for question 3.

Question 3: why Baringa

“Please explain 3 reasons why you would like to secure an internship with Baringa?”

Note: the graduate form says internship. Answer it for the Graduate Analyst role.

Your moves

  • Give three reasons only Baringa fits: a client story, a value or a unit.
  • Do not reuse your consulting reasons from question 2.
  • Name a person you met or an event you attended, if true.

Question 4: a new idea

“What new ideas have you tried to get adopted? What kind of resistance did you encounter? How did you overcome this?”

What they’re testing: initiative, and how you bring people round.

Your moves

  • Pick one idea, one source of push-back and one fix.
  • Spend most words on what you did to win people over.
  • End with the result, with a number if you can.

Question 5: an unexpected problem

“Provide an example within a previous role, within education or within your personal life, where an unexpected problem occurred. How did you manage the situation?”

What they’re testing: calm, ordered thinking when plans change.

Your moves

  • Say what went wrong in one line.
  • Show your steps in order, and who you told.
  • End with the result and what you learned.

Questions quoted from Baringa’s application form, the same on all five ads. What they’re testing and your moves are our own reading.

What to send, what to skip

Send

  • Your CV
  • One practice ad and one unit
  • Five answers, 150 words or fewer

Skip

  • A cover letter
  • A second Baringa application
  • AI-written answers sent as your own

From Baringa’s Early Careers FAQ: “there’s no need to send us one” for a cover letter. The AI line is our advice, because a person reads each answer.

06/10Stage 3 · Assessment centre

The assessment centre

Assessment centres run from January 2027 to February 2027, at Baringa’s London offices. Baringa’s 2025 internship pack lists a half day with an interview, a case study and a group exercise. The graduate pack lists no parts, so treat that as the likely shape.

Reported: Rayan joined through the internship route. He described “a personal interview which was very friendly”, “a case study which was mathematically challenging” and “a group task that was like an escape room” (Bright Network story, February 2025, archived copy).

Baringa says it welcomes hearing your unit preference at the assessment centre.

How to answer

Interview

Prepare true stories, not scripts. Build each one in four parts:

The moment

Where and when, in one line.

Your aim

What you set out to do, and why it was hard.

What you did

Your own steps, not the team’s.

What changed

The result, with a number if you can.

Follow-ups to rehearse

Why Baringa, not another consultancy? Why this unit? What exactly was your part? What would you do differently?

Our list, built on the five traits Baringa asks for.

Build each story with our guide on how to pass a job interview, then rehearse the toughest interview questions.

Case study

Our suggested approach, built on TARGETjobs’ guide to case studies:

1

Read the brief

Note what the client must decide.

2

Structure

Split the problem into 2 to 4 parts.

3

Do the maths

Say each step out loud, and check units.

4

Recommend first

Open your answer with the recommendation.

TARGETjobs says to practise mental arithmetic, “as you may have to demonstrate your quantitative ability without a calculator.” Baringa does not say whether a calculator is allowed.

Group exercise

Assessors watch how you work with others, not only the answer.

  • Speak early, then build on other people’s ideas.
  • Offer to keep time, or to sum up.
  • Bring in anyone who has not spoken.
  • Push for a decision before time runs out.

TARGETjobs: “You need to contribute, but not to dominate.” It says you are not mainly judged on reaching the right answer.

Using AI: Baringa’s rules

Welcome in your prep

  • Gathering first insights
  • Sharpening your thinking
  • Improving visual presentations

Never

  • AI writing your live interview answers
  • AI taking your place in the conversation

From Baringa’s internship pack, page 37. Baringa also asks you to “be transparent about how you have incorporated AI into your preparation.” The graduate pack has no AI page.

Practise: one question at a time

Our own practice prompts, built on the three parts of the day. Baringa publishes no question list.

Why Baringa

“Why Baringa, and not another consultancy?”

What they’re testing: a reason tied to Baringa itself.

Show a strong answer
  • Name one client story or value, and say why it matters to you.
  • Link it to something you have done.

Case structure

A water company is losing too much water through leaks. How would you structure the problem?

What they’re testing: a clear plan before any numbers.

Show a strong answer
  • Ask the goal first: cost, regulation or customers.
  • Split it into where leaks happen, how fast they are found and how fast they are fixed.

Case maths

The company has 1.2 million customers. Leaks add £60 a year to each bill. What do leaks cost customers each year?

What they’re testing: accurate sums, said out loud.

Show a strong answer
  • 1.2 million times £60 is £72 million a year.
  • Then say what it means for the decision.

Presenting

You have five minutes to present your case findings. How do you open?

What they’re testing: “confident presentation skills”, in Baringa’s words.

Show a strong answer
  • Open with the recommendation in one line.
  • Then give two reasons, one risk and the next step.

Group task

Your group has 20 minutes and no leader. What do you do first?

What they’re testing: teamwork without taking over.

Show a strong answer
  • Agree the goal and a time plan in the first two minutes.
  • Offer a role, such as timekeeper, and bring in quiet members.
Your story bank: a worksheet to print or copy

Two stories per row. Reuse your answers to questions 4 and 5.

Visa sponsorship

Our reading: Baringa does not sponsor visas for this role. You need a lasting right to work in the UK before you apply.

Every ad says: “Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK now and in the future.” And: “Please note we’re unable to sponsor individuals for this opportunity” (Energy & Resources ad).

The Graduate visa and this role
  • Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027”. GOV.UK says: “You cannot extend your Graduate visa.”
  • Does it count? Baringa does not say. Ask Baringa before you apply, using the enquiry form or [email protected].

See our guides to staying in the UK after studying, UK companies that sponsor visas and jobs in the UK for foreigners. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Baringa Graduate Analyst deadline for 2026-27?

Applications close on Monday 19 October 2026. The ads say 12pm GMT, but the UK is on BST until 25 October, so treat 12:00 BST as the cut-off. Submit by Sunday 18 October to be safe.

Does Baringa have an online test for graduates?

No online test is named. Baringa’s 2027 graduate pack goes from the application straight to an assessment centre. The real screen is five written answers of up to 150 words each.

Can I apply to more than one Baringa practice?

Baringa advises against it. Pick one practice ad and, where the form asks, one business unit. Baringa says it will do its best to match your preference.

What happens at the Baringa assessment centre?

Baringa’s 2025 internship pack describes a half day in London with an interview, a case study and a group exercise. The 2027 graduate pack lists no parts, so treat that as the likely shape. Assessment centres run from January 2027 to February 2027.

Does Baringa sponsor visas for the Graduate Analyst role?

No. Every ad says you need the permanent right to work in the UK now and in the future, and that Baringa cannot sponsor this role. A Graduate visa cannot be extended. Ask Baringa whether yours counts before you apply.

Can I use AI to prepare for Baringa?

Yes, for preparation. Baringa’s internship pack says AI can help you gather insights, sharpen your thinking or improve visual presentations. It should never generate your live interview answers. Be open about how you used it.

I missed the Baringa deadline. What now?

Penultimate-year students can apply for the UK Summer Internship when it reopens next autumn, for summer 2028. Graduates can watch Baringa’s Early Careers page for the next window, likely to open in September 2027.
