New for 2026-27

Forensic Technology now has a fixed deadline and needs Security Check clearance. Its 2025 ad had neither.

Deloitte asks you to use AI for your topic research and to explain how you used it.

From the four ads and Deloitte’s assessment page, 14 October 2026. The 2025 rules are from an archived Forensic Technology ad.

More on the form and the one-application rule
  • One application. Deloitte has “a strict one application per year policy across our Early Careers opportunities” (timelines page). The summer scheme counts too.
  • The form. “complete your online application form in one session, as it won’t save your progress”.
  • Penultimate year. The Forensic Technology Summer Vacation Scheme runs for six weeks in London from June 2027. It closes on 19 October 2026, with no time given, and has the same clearance rule.

Your CV: do and don’t

Do

Show analysis that led to a result. Give each line a number.

Don’t

“Passionate about fighting financial crime”

A claim with no proof. Show the work instead.

Missed it or not selected? Your options

Checked on 14 October 2026.

  • Closing 26 October 2026. Two Risk & Controls Consulting graduate ads in London: Reputation, Crisis & Resilience and Strategy & Transformation. Both accept Student visa holders. This is Consulting work, not Forensic & Financial Crime.
  • No deadline. Internal Audit & Change in Edinburgh gives no deadline, but may close quickly. It cannot sponsor a visa.
  • First year. Spring into Deloitte: Advisory runs in London on 1 April and 2 April 2027. It opens on 9 November 2026. It closes once places are filled.
  • Next year. Advisory roles opened on 6 October 2025 and 5 October 2026. So the next cycle will likely open in early October 2027. The one-application rule covers every route here.

05/10Stage 2 · Online tests

The Deloitte online tests

Two online stages, both built for Deloitte by Cappfinity. No ad names a technical or coding test. You hear back within four weeks of each.

The Job Simulation is set in your area. Deloitte says it “has been designed for the pathway you have applied to”.

About 12 min

Numerical, speed counts

About 12 min

Verbal, speed counts

“There’s no overall time limit”. But in numerical and verbal, “the time you take will impact your score” (assessment page).

Step through Deloitte’s online tests

Numerical: speed counts

Read the instructions

The test opens with instructions. In the practice version the clock counts the time you take rather than counting down, and speed counts towards your score. Employers set their own version, so yours may differ.

Our drawing of the numerical test instructions: a dark blue title bar, a short intro, a list and notes on timing and calculators, with Previous and Next buttons.

Rank the options

Work out the answer from a table, then drag the options into order. A Time Taken clock runs at the top.

Our drawing of a numerical ranking question: a short question, a table of depots and parcels, and five rows being dragged into order.

Pick one answer

Read the table and the question, then pick one answer from the list.

Our drawing of a numerical pick-one question: a question next to a table of gym bookings, and five numeric answers with one picked.

Type the answer

Some questions have no options. Work out the figure from the chart and type it into the answer box.

Our drawing of a numerical typed-answer question: a question next to a bar chart of room prices, and an answer box with 170 typed in.

Your moves

  • Keep a calculator, pen and paper to hand, as Deloitte recommends.
  • Check each answer before you press submit. You cannot go back.

Verbal: speed counts

Match the reply to a message

Each module tests a different verbal skill. Here you drag each reply under the message it best answers, judging only the style. Employers set their own version, so yours may differ.

Our drawing of a verbal matching question: two messages with drop areas, and a reply card being dragged under the formal message.

Complete the text

A short passage has gaps. Choose the right word for each gap from a small drop-down list.

Our drawing of a verbal gap-fill question: a passage with small drop-down boxes, one filled and one open showing three word choices.

Correct the paragraph

A short notice contains spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. Click into the paragraph and fix them.

Our drawing of a verbal error-checking question: a notice with a few mistakes in an editable box, and a tab saying click on the paragraph to make a change.

Rank the replies

Read how a team replied to an idea. Drag the five replies into order, from most positive to least positive.

Our drawing of a verbal ranking question: five lettered replies in numbered rows, with the second row being dragged.

True, false or can’t say

Read a short passage. For each statement, choose True, False or Can’t say from a drop-down, based only on the passage.

Our drawing of a verbal reasoning question: a passage, five statements with drop-down boxes, two set to True and one open.

Your moves

  • For true, false or can’t say, use only what the passage states.
  • Read the whole paragraph before you fix errors.

Behavioural: untimed

The written screen belongs to the Job Simulation. These screens follow Cappfinity’s practice player, so Deloitte’s real screens may look a little different.

Read the welcome page

A welcome page explains the assessment and gives a few tips. Press Continue to start. Employers set their own version, so yours may differ.

Our drawing of a welcome page with a short intro, a list of tips and a Continue button on a pale background.

Rank the responses

A short work scenario comes with four possible actions. Drag them into order, from the one you would most likely take to the least likely.

Our drawing of a ranking question: a scenario, four lettered actions in numbered rows, and one row being dragged by its handle.

Move the slider

Some questions ask where you sit between two views. Drag the handle along the scale, and a box above it shows what you picked.

Our drawing of a slider question: a scenario, a box reading You have selected Mostly adapt, and a five-point scale with the handle on Mostly adapt.

Pick the best response

A scenario comes with four responses. Pick the one you think is most appropriate, then save and go on.

Our drawing of a pick-one question: a scenario and four response rows with round buttons, the first one picked.

Write your answer

Some questions ask for a written answer. These can be timed, and a counter shows how many characters you have left.

Our drawing of a written question: a prompt, a text box with a typed answer, a small countdown ring marked as timed, and a remaining characters counter.

Your moves

  • “Go with your gut instinct”, as Deloitte’s recruiters advise.
  • Type every word yourself. Pasting is blocked and there is no spellcheck.

Video: Job Simulation

The Job Simulation also asks for recorded video answers.

  • First a set-up clip, which you can record again.
  • Each question gives you time to prepare.
  • Answer in English. Assessed answers cannot be re-recorded.

Your moves

  • Try the Candidate Zone’s practice Job Simulation first.
  • Tell your housemates, to avoid what Deloitte calls “a cameo appearance”.

Our own simplified drawings of Cappfinity’s practice screens, not screenshots. Numbers on them are examples. Deloitte’s version may differ.

For more on reasoning questions, see our tips for psychometric tests.

The rules: allowed and banned

Allowed

  • A calculator, pen and paper
  • Breaks, within a 5-hour cap
  • Practice in the Candidate Zone
  • Adjustments, if you ask early

Banned

  • AI tools, in either online stage
  • Help from anyone else
  • Pasting text into written answers
  • Sharing questions, including with AI

From Deloitte’s integrity page. Deloitte has “measures in place to detect AI-generated or AI-assisted responses”.

On the day: integrity, order and going back
  • Integrity first. You record an integrity statement on camera first. The three modules then go in any order.
  • No going back. “Once you have submitted your answer to a question, you cannot then go back and change it”. Cappfinity’s free demo has a Previous button. Deloitte’s real test does not.

About 15 minutes of your findings · Then questions · No slides

Skills and motivation interviewAbout 50 minutes, up to an hour

Motivation · Past examples · Scenarios · Values

Deloitte asks you to use AI for your topic research and to explain how you used it. AI is banned in the interviews themselves.

Your mandatory preparation and the timings
  • The task. Choose one of the topics Deloitte gives you and spend up to two hours on it. “you don’t need to prepare slides”.
  • Your topics. Deloitte does not publish which topics these teams get.
  • What to explain. Why you chose it, your approach, and how you used AI and “what value it added”.
  • Timings. Deloitte’s pages give “around 30-40 minutes” and “around 45 minutes” for the session. The Discussion Guide caps your findings at 15 minutes. The Interview Guide says interviews run “up to an hour”.

Motivation

Deloitte’s guide names three areas, plus your own questions.

The area

Why financial crime or forensics, and why this team.

Practise: one question at a time

Motivation questions

Topics from Deloitte’s Interview Guide. Answers are ours.

The area

Why financial crime or forensics, and why this team?

What they’re testing: that you know what the team does.

Show a strong answer
  • Name one piece of the team’s work, such as sanctions screening or digital evidence. Link it to something you have done.

The firm

Why an adviser like Deloitte, rather than a bank’s own team?

What they’re testing: that you know what advisers do.

Show a strong answer
  • Say advisers see many clients and problems. Then name one of the team’s own articles that caught your interest.

Your career

What do you want to learn in your first two years?

What they’re testing: “Your career aspirations and how these align with what we do”.

Show a strong answer
  • Name something your ad says you will learn, such as the ICA qualification. Say why it fits your plans.

Your questions

“What aspects of the role and responsibilities do you want to know more about?”

From Deloitte’s Interview Guide

Show a strong answer
  • Ask about training or a recent type of case, not facts the ad already gives.

Past example questions

The first card is Deloitte’s own. The others are ours.

Past example

“Tell me about a time you had to work collaboratively with others to achieve a goal”

Deloitte’s own example question

Show a strong answer
  • Use STAR. Focus on your part and end with a number.

Values

How do you support the people around you?

What they’re testing: Deloitte’s value of looking out for each other.

Show a strong answer
  • Name one habit, then a time it helped someone.

Analytical

Tell me about a time you noticed something that did not add up.

What they’re testing: the curiosity this work needs.

Show a strong answer
  • How you spotted it, how you checked it and what you did next.

Resilient

Tell me about a time a plan failed and how you recovered.

What they’re testing: Resilient & Adaptable, one of Deloitte’s 10 core skills.

Show a strong answer
  • Say what went wrong, what you changed and the result the second time.

Scenario and topic questions

The first three follow Deloitte’s guides. The last is ours.

Scenario

You built a new way for your team to report project progress. How would you present it to colleagues?

Based on Deloitte’s example question

Show a strong answer
  • This is not STAR. Say who is in the room, what they care about and how you would take feedback.

Topic

“What research did you come across that you decided to discount?”

From Deloitte’s Discussion Guide

Show a strong answer
  • Name one source and why you dropped it: too old, too small or one-sided.

AI

How did you use AI, and what value did it add?

Based on Deloitte’s mandatory preparation

Show a strong answer
  • Say what you asked it, what you checked in other sources and how you tested your thinking.

Communicator

Explain money laundering to someone outside finance.

What they’re testing: plain words, which client work needs.

Show a strong answer
  • One line, then one everyday example, such as cash from crime passed through a shop’s takings to look clean.

Visa sponsorship and security clearance

Our reading: if you need a visa, you need a Student visa and a Financial Crime role. Check your ad before you apply.

Financial Crime: Advisory and Tech

Student visa holders can apply. Not if you have held a Skilled Worker or Graduate visa.

Forensic Technology: both offices

Student visa holders cannot apply. You need “complete right to work in the UK” and Security Check clearance.

Deloitte’s sponsorship page says your Student visa must be “valid within 3 months of your start date”. You “must be back in the UK by the beginning of August”.

Security Check, in short

What it is. UK government vetting. You must be “willing and eligible” to get it, unless you already hold it.

What it checks. Identity, a security questionnaire, criminal records, credit and financial history, and Security Service records.

How long. It “will vary from person to person”. Deloitte does not say when vetting happens.

From the Forensic Technology ads and GOV.UK’s clearance levels and guide for applicants. An interview may follow. GOV.UK says: “Don’t assume something will be a blocker”.

More on each visa rule
  • Financial Crime. With an offer, “you must stay on your student visa until our immigration team contacts you c.3 months before start date”.
  • Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK).

Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.

Frequently asked questions

When does the Deloitte Forensic & Financial Crime graduate programme close?

All four ads close at 10:00 BST on Monday 19 October 2026. Deloitte may close ads early if demand is high, so apply now.

Which teams and offices can I apply to?

Financial Crime Advisory and Financial Crime Tech in London, and Forensic Technology in London or Manchester. Pick one, as Deloitte allows one application a year.

Do I need a STEM degree or coding skills?

Only Financial Crime Tech asks for a 2:1 in a STEM subject. The other ads take a 2:1 in any degree. Forensic Technology says no prior coding or technical skills are required.

Is there a technical test?

No ad mentions one. You sit Deloitte’s standard online assessment, with behavioural, numerical and verbal parts. Then comes a Job Simulation set in your area.

Does Deloitte sponsor visas for these roles?

The two Financial Crime ads accept Student visa holders, but not anyone who has held a Skilled Worker or Graduate visa. Forensic Technology needs full UK right to work, so Student visa holders cannot apply.

What is Security Check clearance?

UK government vetting, needed for Forensic Technology. It covers identity, criminal records, credit and financial history, and security records. Deloitte does not say when it happens.

What if I miss the deadline?

First-years can apply to Spring into Deloitte: Advisory from 9 November 2026. It closes once places are filled. Two Risk & Controls Consulting graduate roles in London close on 26 October. Advisory roles will likely open again in early October 2027.
