Your route to an offer

The window for the 2027 intake has closed. DB’s Let’s Prepare page lists London IBCM from 7 September to 11 October 2026.

Deutsche Bank gives no date for the next window, as of 19 October 2026.

DB’s early careers FAQ says: “Dates vary by region, but most applications open in late summer or early autumn.” It adds that the open and close dates go up on its Let’s Prepare page.

The 2025 and 2026 windows come from copies of DB’s page saved by the Wayback Machine on 11 July 2025 and 26 October 2025.

Our reading: DB opened in early or mid September three years running. Each window closed earlier than the one before. So be ready by early September. This is a past pattern, not a date.

Do this now

Watch DB’s Let’s Prepare page. DB says it is where “you can see application open and close dates”.

Follow DB’s social media channels. DB tells you to “keep an eye on” them for announcements.

Be ready by early September. DB may close a role early if it gets many applications.

DB has no register-interest page. Its UK ads say an early close is announced “48 hours in advance”.

Get ready now

Six things to finish before the window opens. Each comes from DB’s own pages.

A CV you know inside out

DB’s head of early careers says “know your CV inside out”. You attach it to “a short application form”.

One role, one country

DB asks you to “apply to just one role in one country”. You can’t update it after you submit.

The IBCM teams

Read DB’s Unofficial Guide to Banking. It splits IBCM roles into origination teams and product teams.

Quick numbers

The guide lists numeracy for IBCM: “Doing quick calculations under pressure”.

Your why DB answer

DB wants to hear “why you’re right for Deutsche Bank and why Deutsche Bank is right for you”.

A recorded practice answer

The video round gives you two minutes to record and one take. Record yourself once on your phone and watch it back.

Pick your stage and tick each step when done. Stages are DB’s, checked 19 October 2026. Prep times are ours.

1. Get ready and apply: no date for the next window

One UK application a season, which you can’t update once sent. Prep 2 to 3 weeks, before September.

How to apply

2. Online tests: 96 hours per set

An eligibility screen, then three tests. Only the ability test is timed. Prep about 1 week.

The online tests

3. Video interview: pre-recorded, one take

Two minutes to prepare, two to record, one attempt. Prep 3 to 5 days.

The video interview

4. Super day: in person, in most cases

Competency assessments, case studies and a technical interview. Prep 1 to 2 weeks.

Origination teams

They “work with clients to understand their needs and identify new business opportunities”.

Product teams

They “develop and execute specialist solutions” for those clients.

From DB’s Unofficial Guide to Banking, “created with the help of Deutsche Bank graduates”. It names five IBCM teams: Mergers and Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Leveraged Debt Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets and Investment Banking Coverage. In its words, they “link companies that need funding with investors who can provide it”.

Where these facts come from
  • Pay. Deutsche Bank publishes no salary for this programme. Compare salaries in the UK.
  • Training. DB’s graduate programme page calls it “a year-long comprehensive programme”. It starts with e-learning, then an orientation where “You’ll also hear directly from our Management Board and senior leaders”. Divisional training and a continuous development programme follow.
  • Eligibility, 2027 intake. Studies completed between 1 January 2026 and 31 July 2027. On track for “a 2:1 or First (or equivalent)”. “no more than 12 months full-time, relevant work experience”. Check the rows for the next intake when DB posts them.
  • Degree. DB hires from “many different disciplines”. It says “you won’t necessarily need a formal mathematical or financial background”.

What Deutsche Bank looks for

DB’s guide lists five skills for IBCM. Its FAQ adds “a keen interest in your chosen field”.

Ambition

“ambition and determination are essential to performance”. Show it with a goal you set and reached.

Numeracy

“Doing quick calculations under pressure”. Show it with a number in every CV result.

Hungry to learn

“The market never stops”. Show it with one deal or market story you follow.

Good with people

The work is “driven by relationships which are based on trust”. Show it with a time someone relied on you.

Attention to detail

It “helps spot areas of concern and resolves issues before they occur”. Show it with a form with no typos.

Interest in finance

“You should not only be passionate about the world of finance, but also show a keen interest in your chosen field.” Show it by saying why IBCM, not another division.

Skills from the IBCM section of DB’s Unofficial Guide. DB’s FAQ says it recruits people who are “intelligent and adaptable with excellent communication skills”.

How to apply

The one-application rule, eligibility and early closes
  • One application. DB’s UK ads say “you may only make ONE application per recruitment season in the UK”. If you apply with multiple profiles, “you may be removed from the recruitment process” (a live UK ad).
  • No updates. “once you’ve submitted your application you can’t update it”. You can replace your CV before you submit.
  • One try a year. “In most instances, if you are unsuccessful for one role you cannot be considered for another in the same hiring year.”
  • Early close. “If the role is due to close early, the deadline will be updated 48 hours in advance” (archived UK ad).
  • Waiting to hear. “we don’t reject candidates until all of the positions are filled and the program is full.”
  • Graduated over a year ago. “You must have graduated within the last 12 months in order to apply for our graduate programme.”

DB’s four rules for your form and CV

1

Show the skill

Say what each thing you did developed

2

Stay current

Keep your skills up to date

3

Tailor it

One CV does not fit every role

4

Proof-read

“don’t spoil it with typos!”

From DB’s article Write applications that make a big impression. It adds that “quality is a far better use of time than quantity”.

Do

“I rebuilt our society’s budget model and cut costs by 12%, which drew me to M&A”

A real result with a number, tied to the team you want. DB asks why this division suits you.

Don’t

“I am passionate about finance and want to join a leading global bank”

It could fit any bank. DB wants to know “how we differ from other financial institutions”.

DB asks you to attach your CV to the form. Our CV achievement examples show how to give each line a result. Getting ready to apply for jobs in the UK? Check your CV for free: see it the way a recruiter does, then fix each problem.

Missed the window, or not eligible yet? Your options
  • The next graduate window. Watch DB’s Let’s Prepare page. DB gives no date for it yet.
  • Penultimate year. DB lists its September 2027 Seasonal Internship window as 1 February to 7 March 2027. For the 2027 internships, DB says “you must be graduating in 2028” (internship page).
  • First year. Spring into Banking, with IBCM among its areas, is listed for 2 November to 8 November 2026. The RISE, GROW and ADVANCE insight programmes are listed for 2 November to 29 November 2026. (insight page).
  • Postgraduate quant. The 2027 Quant Internship is listed until 30 October 2026. It asks for a postgraduate quant degree and a 2:1 already achieved.
  • Graduated over 12 months ago. DB says “please consider applying for other direct entry opportunities”.

05/10Stage 2 · Online tests

The online tests

First comes an eligibility screen, then a series of online tests. DB says “You’ll have ninety-six hours to complete each set of tests”.

3 tests

SJT, behaviour and ability

96 hours

To finish each set

1 timed

Only the ability test

DB’s FAQ names a “Situational Judgment Test, Behavioral Questionnaire and an Ability Test”. You see them as “two task tiles”. DB names no test company. It says to “complete the practice tests beforehand”, inside its own platform.

Extra time, lost connections and feedback
  • Extra time. Available on the ability test. Send “the recommendation you have been given by an educational psychologist/medical professional”.
  • Lost connection. “you will be able to return to the assessments at the same point”. The ability test limits how many times you can exit it.
  • Feedback. Everyone who takes the tests gets “feedback reports which will provide useful development tips and give an overview of your performance”.
  • Wording changed. On 23 August 2026, DB’s page put the SJT first, with “two weeks to complete it” (archived). By 24 September 2026 it said ninety-six hours per set (archived). We use today’s text.
Deutsche Bank's two online stages side by side. Stage 03, the online tests, is a situational judgement test, a behavioural questionnaire and an ability test, with 96 hours to finish each set. Only the ability test is timed, and you get a feedback report afterwards. Stage 04, the video interview, is pre-recorded, not live. You get 2 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes to record, with one take, and Deutsche Bank asks you not to use AI tools. Deutsche Bank says to do its practice tests before the real ones, and you can try an example video question first.
Stages 3 and 4, from Deutsche Bank’s own pages. It names no test or video platform. (click to enlarge)

The test rules: allowed and asked not to

Allowed

  • DB’s own practice tests, before the real ones
  • Extra time, with a professional’s recommendation
  • Up to 96 hours for each set
  • Coming back after a lost connection

Asked not to

  • AI tools for your video answers
  • More than one profile
  • More than one UK application a season
  • Exiting the ability test too often

From DB’s FAQ and Let’s Prepare page, and a live UK ad.

Visa sponsorship

Deutsche Bank says it sponsors eligible candidates for work visas in most countries. Every offer depends on your right to work.

DB’s FAQ, checked 19 October 2026: DB works with its immigration providers “to sponsor candidates who are eligible for work visas in most countries”. “All offers will be contingent on you obtaining proper work authorization.” It also says: “We aim to hire and develop people from local talent pools wherever possible.”

Our reading: the FAQ does not say how this applies to London graduates. Confirm it for London and your role before you rely on it.

The Graduate visa and right to work
  • Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK).
  • Start date. DB’s 2027-intake rows said you start “subject to local working legislation and visa requirements”.

Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
