From Evercore’s 2024-25 brochure, 2025-26 brochure and 2027 brochure. Our reading: the window opened in mid-August three years running. It closed earlier each year. So be ready by early August. That is our advice, not a date from Evercore.

Get ready now
Six things to finish before the window opensbefore you apply. Each comes from Evercore’s own pages.
Your technical basics
Evercore’s interview page links to guides on accounting, valuation and modelling. Start with the three statements and a DCF.
Excel, Word and PowerPoint
The ads say “Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is also expected.”
Your why-advisory answer
Evercore wants “a genuine interest in investment banking and global markets”. Know what an advisory team does.
A news habit
Evercore names the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and Morning Brew. Follow two or three deals.
Your personal pitch
Evercore’s tip: “Craft a personal pitch to ensure you make a great first impression with your interviewers.”
Mock interviews
Evercore suggests “mock interviews with peers and alumni”. Book a few before August.
Pick your stage and tick each step when done. Rules are Evercore’s, checked 19 October 2026. Prep times are ours.
1. Get ready and apply
Apply on the team’s own ad, early in the window. Prep 2 to 3 weeks before August.
2. Technical prep: no test named

3. Interviews: format not published

Where these facts come from
- Training. The programme “begins with five weeks of technical and soft skills training” (students page). The 2026 ad and the 2024-25 brochure said six weeks.
- Rotations. “We typically offer two nine-month rotations in the first two years”. They let you “experience varying team sizes and industries”.
- First team. “Team allocations for the first rotation are communicated prior to graduates joining full time.”
- Deal teams. “With only four to five people on a project at any one time” (2026 M&A Advisory Analyst ad).
- Offices. The Graduate Programme runs in “London, Dubai, Frankfurt, Madrid & Paris”. This page covers London.

What Evercore looks for
Evercore’s ads and 2027 brochure list the same six headings. The quotes are Evercore’s. The “Show it” lines are ours.
Academic achievement
“We look for an exceptional academic record coupled with diverse interests.” Show it: one interest outside your degree.
Interest in our industry
“You need to demonstrate a genuine interest in investment banking and global markets.” Show it: a deal you followed and why.
Critical mindset
“Our Graduates need to think critically about a range of strategic issues impacting our clients.” Show it: a time you challenged an assumption.
An analytical approach
“We look for quantitative and analytical talents combined with effective communication skills.” Show it: numbers you explained to others.
Passion for people
“We want to see aptitude for working in diverse teams with demonstrated potential for leadership.” Show it: a team you led or rescued.
A flexible attitude
“You need to show proven ability to move nimbly between projects”. Show it: two deadlines you met in the same week.
From the 2027 Equity Advisory Analyst ad and the 2026 ad. The 2026 ad describes the work as “meaningful work that is cerebral and calculated – focused on the long-term consequences of a decision, rather than the immediate monetary reward of getting a deal across the line”.

- Rolling. “We recruit on a rolling basis so please apply early!”

Your CV: do and don’t
Do
“Built a DCF of a listed retailer and presented the result to 40 society members”
Evercore wants analytical talent and communication. One line shows both.
Don’t
“Passionate about finance and a strong team player”
It could fit any bank, and it proves nothing.
Evercore’s interview tips say to “answer questions regarding your resume”. So every line needs a result you can explain. Our CV achievement examples show how to add one. 05/10Stage 2 · Technical prep
Technical prep: no online test named
Evercore names no online test or test provider for this role. So build your technical basics instead of guessing a vendor.
Evercore’s interview preparation page links to guides from Wall Street Prep, “a training partner of Evercore”. They cover “accounting, valuation, and financial modeling topics”. Evercore adds that “the entire WSP platform is available to all Evercore new hires when they join the firm”.

Where to start: our order
1. The three statements
How profit, cash and the balance sheet link. Every other topic builds on this.
2. Enterprise and equity value
What a business is worth to all investors, and to shareholders.
3. A DCF
The biggest group on Evercore’s list, with 12 guides.
4. How a deal works
Mergers, IPOs and merger models, from the investment banking group.

Motivation questions
Our own questions, built on Evercore’s five tips. Evercore publishes no question list.
Why Evercore
Why Evercore, and not a larger bank?
Show a strong answer
- Use Evercore’s own facts: an independent firm, small deal teams of four to five, and two rotations.
- Link one of them to a real moment from your own story.
Why advisory
Why advisory, and not markets or research?
Show a strong answer
- Advisory work helps boards decide on deals. Evercore calls it work “focused on the long-term consequences of a decision”.
- Say what draws you to that, with one example.
In the news
Tell me about a deal you have followed.
Show a strong answer
- Name the buyer, the target and the rough price.
- Give the reason for the deal, one risk, and what you would watch next.
Your story
Walk me through your CV.
Show a strong answer
- Two minutes, in order, with one result per step.
- End on why you are applying to Evercore now.
Questions on the six headings
Our own questions, one per heading from Evercore’s ads. Answer each with STAR.
Critical mindset
Tell me about a time you challenged an assumption.
Show a strong answer
- Say what the assumption was and why you doubted it.
- Show the check you ran and what changed as a result.
Analytical approach
Tell me about a time you used numbers to make a decision.
Show a strong answer
- Name the data and the tool, such as Excel.
- Explain how you showed the result to people without the numbers.
Passion for people
Tell me about a time you led a team that did not agree.
Show a strong answer
- Show how you heard each view before you decided.
- Give the outcome and what you learned about leading.
Flexible attitude
Tell me about two deadlines in the same week.
Show a strong answer
- Show how you ranked the tasks and told people early.
- Evercore asks for “a self-starting mindset”, so show you acted without being asked.
Technical questions
Our own questions on topics from Evercore’s technical list. Evercore does not say which it asks.
Accounting
Walk me through the three financial statements.
Show a strong answer
- The income statement shows revenue, costs and profit over a period.
- The balance sheet shows assets, liabilities and equity on one date.
- The cash flow statement starts from net income and ends with the change in cash, which links to the balance sheet.
Valuation
What is the difference between enterprise value and equity value?
Show a strong answer
- Equity value is what the shares are worth.
- Enterprise value is the whole business: equity value plus debt, minus cash, in its simplest form.
DCF
Walk me through a DCF.
Show a strong answer
- Project unlevered free cash flow for five to ten years.
- Add a terminal value, then discount both at the WACC.
- That gives enterprise value. Take off net debt to reach equity value.
Metrics
Why do bankers use EBITDA?
Show a strong answer
- It strips out interest, tax and non-cash charges, so companies are easier to compare.
- Add its limit: it ignores capital spending and working capital.

The final round and your offer
Evercore does not publish its final round for Advisory. Two official hints exist, each from a named cycle.
An assessment centre, 2027 cycle
The Private Funds Group’s breakfast ad said “Following the event, the strongest candidates will be invited to participate in the Assessment Centre.” That ad was for a different team, not Advisory.
Interviewers, 2025-26 brochure
A graduate wrote: “The recruitment process was smooth and well-structured, with interviewers who were both professional and genuinely interested in getting to know me.”
Your first team
“Team allocations for the first rotation are communicated prior to graduates joining full time.”
The offer
Evercore does not say when offers go out.
Our reading: prepare for more than one interview. Bring your technical basics and two stories per heading. Sources: the 2025-26 brochure and Evercore’s students page.
08/10
Visa sponsorship
Evercore’s ads and student pages say nothing about visa sponsorship or right to work. If you will need a visa, ask Evercore before you apply.
Our reading: do not assume sponsorship.
The Graduate visa
- Graduate visa. It lasts “2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026” and “18 months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027” (GOV.UK).
Need sponsorship? See our guides to UK companies that sponsor visas and staying in the UK after studying. This is general information, so check GOV.UK.
